On May 9, 2016, the Patriot-News/Pennlive published an article by Jan Murphy on the Senate’s passage of the Protect Excellent Teachers Act.  The article cited PennCAN’s Executive Director:

Jonathan Cetel, executive director of the Pennsylvania Campaign for Achievement Now, a school reform group, applauded the Senate action and called it a “commonsense reform.”

“The current seniority-based system leads to the furlough of effective educators and does not value an educator’s impact on kids,” he said. “In the unfortunate case of a reduction in force, this legislation will help schools protect excellent teachers and keep them in the classroom.”
